Indiana Senator Mike Braun and Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey sent a letter to the Social Security Administration on Thursday regarding their lack of compliance with allowing electronic signatures to complete transactions.
Congress had given previous direction saying that electronic signatures should be allowed when possible.
The letter claims that wet (physical) signatures are out dated and place avoidable burden on SSA employees as well as the people filling out the forms.
In the letter Braun and Casey address the SSA’s struggles to meet service demands due to the amount of time wet signatures take to process.
