Indiana Senator Mike Braun helped introduce a bipartisan bill to help Medal of Honor recipients.
Senator Braun along with Senators Jon Tester (D) and Sherrod Brown (D) introduced the “Mark Our Place” Act, which would eliminate any cut-off date for MOH recipients who served after 1917.
Current law allows the VA to provide MOH recipients with a headstone, marker or medallion for those who served after 1917.
Braun explained why he introduced the bill.
“That would simply allow any veteran post 1917 anyone who died before that serving their country. They should have that same ability. That’s a commonsense thing, and we get a lot of that legislation across because it doesn’t make sense why it would be otherwise.”
Braun also says we owe a debt of gratitude to those who have served and sacrificed to protect our freedom.
