The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has announced a request for information from the public on blocked railroad crossings.

Indiana Senators Todd Young and Mike Braun are asking Hoosiers to provide input to the FRA.

The FRA wants information regarding the frequency, location and impacts of highway-rail grade crossings blocked by slow-moving or idling trains, including emergency response vehicles being delayed from responding to an incident or transporting patients to a hospital.

The FRA is proposing to add new links to its existing website and its existing phone app so users can report blocked crossings and says it would simplify reporting issues of blocked railroad crossings and standardize the data received.
