WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Senator Mike Braun’s staff attended the inaugural Child Suicide and Opioid Crisis Prevention Fair in Northwest Indiana. The goal of the event was to address the opioid and child suicide crisis facing our country, Dr. Sudhish Chandra a local neonatologist, outlined preventative ways to address this crisis.
Senator Braun has introduced two solutions to help combat opioid crisis that include: requiring a clear warning label with every opioid prescription and mandatory education for individuals who prescribe opioids. Additionally, Senator Braun wrote an op-ed for the Herald Bulletin about the solutions he’s providing in Washington to solve the opioid crisis.
“I am committed to solving the opioid crisis, which is why I’ve introduced two bipartisan solutions and have my staff meeting with professionals and families who have been affected by this epidemic,” said U.S. Senator Mike Braun. “This forum hosted by the Indian Medical Association of Northwest Indiana, is an important step forward to educate members of our community on how we can defeat this opioid crisis.”
